Player statistics

Player statistics are a simple count of how often a player performs a certain action. Player statistics can be determined from a hand history database such as that created by software such as Poker Office, Hold'em Manager and Poker Tracker - or from websites such as PokerTableRatings and HandHQ. Human players will often display key statistics in a HUD so that they are readily accessible for making decisions regarding opponent dependent play.

Player statistics are often expressed as VPIP/PFR (e.g. 18/15) or as VPIP/PFR/AF (e.g. 18/15/4.5).

Applicability to Computer Poker

Player statistics can be used to form the basis on an opponent model for making player dependent decisions. Especially useful in the case of an Exploiter pokerbot.
