Matrix

"Matrix" is an 'academic' hobbyist botter who, in his own words, "is not out to make a profit from it". He has built four fixed limit bots: Bogstdplus2b (table profiling), Caterpillar (chair profiling), Chrysalis (a Caterpillar used as a testbed for self-evaluation routines), and Butterfly (very complicated opponent profiling). Matrix is also a veteran in the WinHoldem usergroup and was a participant in the first PBWC event.
His approach to bot design is based on a simple principle: At showdown the player with the best hand wins, but the majority of hands never reach showdown, and are won instead by the player who makes the most skillful use of aggression. He therefore concentrates on opponent profiling to maximise the number of occasions on which a bot can take the pot without needing to show cards.
